Saja’s story

Saja* and her family were forced to flee their home by the violence engulfing Iraq.

“We left our house because armed groups were there and attacking our house, and there was shelling,” she recalls.

When they reached a camp for displaced people, they desperately missed their home and there was nothing for Saja to do.

Then they heard about one of Save the Children’s child-friendly spaces – where children can learn, play and just be children again.

“I like coming here because it is like my house and everyone is playing together – different games like hide and seek, tug of war and running. There are lots of toys and the teachers take care of us.”

By taking part in Den Day and raising money, you’ll be helping us change the lives of children like Saja.
